PetsApp integrates with supported veterinary Practice Management Systems (PMS) to help practices streamline appointment booking, automate client communications and improve workflows. Available features vary by PMS provider, configuration and market. PetsApp syncs with a clinic’s PMS data in order to offer personalised services including digital payment, SMS messaging, appointment booking, wellness plans and deliveries. However, PetsApp does not own this data, and acts purely as a data steward. The ownership of all data within a PMS is owned solely by the practice and this is explicitly outlined in PetsApp’s licence agreement.
PetsApp’s Appointment Booking feature allows pet owners to book appointments online directly into the veterinary practice’s calendar. Appointment availability and the display of bookable time slots depend on the PMS provider and how the practice configures and manages its appointment calendar. Check the relevant PMS details below to understand how online appointment booking works with each supported system.
PetsApp supports automated reminders to help veterinary practices keep pet owners informed about upcoming appointments and other important aspects of their pets’ care. Reminder functionality is available through two methods: PMS-generated reminders and transaction-based reminders.
PMS-generated reminders are created and scheduled by the veterinary practice’s PMS. They may be generated automatically following a patient transaction or created manually by a member of the practice team. Common examples include vaccination reminders, flea and worming treatment reminders, and routine health check reminders. Because the PMS typically provides an existing reminder schedule and due date, these reminders can be configured in PetsApp with less additional scheduling work.
Transaction-based reminders are generated by PetsApp using transaction data from the veterinary practice’s PMS. This gives practices greater flexibility over the timing, content and delivery of client communications. For example, a practice could send a pet owner a next-day notification explaining how to administer a prescribed flea treatment to their cat. Where supported, PetsApp can deliver this information through a push notification, providing a convenient and cost-effective way to reinforce treatment instructions and support client compliance.
PetsApp’s Appointment Confirmations feature allows pet owners to confirm appointments they have booked. Once confirmed, the appointment is marked accordingly in the veterinary practice’s PMS calendar, helping the team identify confirmed bookings.
PetsApp’s Payments Write-Back feature allows veterinary practice teams to request payments through PetsApp. Once a payment is completed, the payment information can be written back to the client’s profile in the PMS. Depending on the supported PMS and configuration, this may also mark the associated invoice as paid.
This helps practices connect the client payment journey with their existing practice management workflows.
PetsApp’s Medical Notes Write-Back feature enables information from a completed chat to be recorded in the veterinary practice’s PMS. This includes a conversation summary and a link to the patient’s medical record, helping the practice team maintain continuity between client communications and clinical records.
Integrated Supply Chain in the UK, PetsApp collaborates directly with major veterinary wholesalers to fulfil and ship prescriptions for flea and worming treatments on behalf of individual clinics.
Automated Payments & Syncing: This feature coordinates zero-joining-fee monthly direct debits and fully synchronises data with the clinic’s existing Practice Management Software (PMS).
By offering home delivery, local clinics can directly compete with cheap, mass-market online retailers, ensuring pets stay locked into the professional veterinary care loop.
